DIY Barbie Pool – free dollhouse printables
Add a splash of summer to your DIY dollhouse decorating with these free Barbie pool printables. There are 10 designs to choose from with different edging patterns, pool shapes and sizes. Of course they’re not only for Barbie dolls – I’m sure Blythe and other dolls would love a pool in their backyard too!
Each PDF comes with the Barbie pool printable in sizes to suit both 1:6 and 1:12 scale dollhouses. You can choose US letter, A4 and A3 paper sizes to suit your printing needs (and how grand a pool you want!).
The design for these printables was inspired by Barbie The Movie. What a brilliant idea to just have a flat pool without the mess and hassle of water and getting your dolls wet. I don’t know about you but I haven’t had much success with getting my Barbie dolls to balance well in a floatie on real water. If you like the pattern I’ve used for the edging, check out my free printable for the multi-toned pink stone pattern.
Sizes:
The Barbie pool printable PDFs come in various sizes. The larger ones are available to print on A3 paper, as well as some you can print and join together on A4 or US letter paper. There are notches (triangles) to help with this joining.
You can also customise the scale when you print if you need a specific sized pool.
Instructions:
- Download the design zip files, extract and find the PDF in the paper size right for your printer.
- Print the page(s) with the design that suits the scale of your dollhouse’s backyard. You can print on card stock (minimum 176gsm is recommended) or just regular printer paper and glue it to cardboard/posterboard before cutting out.
- If you’re printing a design that is over two pages, before cutting out, score the centre of the triangle notches and line these up on both layers. Then cut.
- To create extra dimension you can print two copies and cut out just the edging from one. This can then be placed on top of the other printout.
- If you’d like your pool water to have some sheen, you can print on photo paper and add the edge as mentioned above or apply a few coats of varnish or Mod Podge to the water surface before cutting (don’t varnish the edge).
- When cutting around the pool shape, the grey background is only there to make it easier to cut and is not intended to be part of the design.
To complete the look, add some DIY Barbie beach towels in pretty tropical fabrics or nautical stripes.
